| 米国ビザは、米国に入国しようとする外国人の市民の旅券（パスポート）に貼付された文書です。旅券（パスポート）は、渡航者の国籍国の発行した渡航文書です。日本人が、他の海外旅行者と同様にビザなしで旅行する条件を満たせば、ビザなしで米国に旅行する資格があります。 | U.S. visa is a document placed in the passport of a citizen of a foreign country who seeks to enter the United States. A passport is a travel document issued by the traveler’s country of citizenship. Japanese, like certain international travelers, may be eligible to travel to the United States without a visa if they meet the requirements for visa-free travel. |

| 米国ビザがあれば、入国港、空港、又は国境を超えた港へ旅行し、米国国土安全保障省 (DHS)、米国税関・国境保護 (CBP)の検査官に米国への入国許可を申請できます。 ビザを取得しても米国への入国が保証されるわけではありません。しかしビザは、海外の米国大使館又は領事館の領事官が、特定の目的のための入国資格が旅行者にあると判断したことを示しています。米国国境の監視者である DHS/CBP の検査官は、米国旅行者の入国のステータスと在留期間の決定について責任を負います。またDHSは、旅行者の米国滞在中に起きた全ての移民問題についても責任を負います。 | U.S. visa allows you to travel to a port of entry, airport or land border crossing, and request permission of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspector to enter the United States. Although having a visa does not guarantee entry to the United States, it does indicate a consular officer at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad has determined you are eligible to seek entry for that specific purpose. DHS/CBP inspectors, guardians of the United States’ borders, are responsible for admission of travelers to the United States, for a specified status and period. DHS also has responsibility for immigration matters while you are present in the United States. |

| 取得するべきビザの種類は米国移民法に定められています。ビザの種類は渡航目的に関わります。米国ビザには、大きく分けて2つのカテゴリーがあります。 非移民ビザは、一時的に米国へ渡航し、滞在が終了したら米国を出国する意思を持つ方のためのビザです。 移民ビザは、米国に永住する意思を持つ方のためのビザです。 | The type of visa you must obtain is defined by U.S. immigration law, and relates to the purpose of your travel. There are two main categories of U.S. visas: Nonimmigrant visas are for those who wish to travel to the United States on a temporary basis, and the traveler has the intention of departing the U.S. at the end of their stay. Immigrant visas are for those who intend to travel to live permanently in the United States. |

| 非移民ビザには、次の種類のビザがあります。 a. ビジネスまたは観光するための訪問; b. 政府、学術および民間部門が支援する教育、文化訪問プログラムで、学習/参加する; c. 一時的な雇用（トレーニングを含む）; d. 米国と日本（又は母国）間の通商条約の下、投資活動又は貿易活動に従事する; e. トランジット; f. 外国人の市民が米国で米国市民と婚約、結婚し居住する（婚約者ビザ）; g. その他の目的. | There are nonimmigrant visas for the purpose of: a. visiting for business or tourism; b. studying and/or participating in government, academic and private sector sponsored educational and cultural visitor programs; c. temporary employment, including training; d. investment or engaging in trade pursuant to a treaty of commerce and navigation between the United States and Japan (or your home country); e. transit; f. uniting foreign citizens with and engaged to U.S. citizens in the United States (fiancé/fiancée visas) and will live there after the marriage ceremony; g. and other purposes. |
